PRESENTS
SIMONS-SEZ
IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR
Well, the mid term elections are all over. And how happy I am that that is the case. By the way, I voted and it was not a straight ticket.
In this county there was a tight race the County Sheriff. The incumbent won by 58 votes, I believe, and that was after and recount. I always hate close races. It means the person that won knows that about half the voters did not vote for them.
Nationally, the Democrats did well. Lots of Republicans were ousted. I remember hearing one Democrat say something about we need to work together and forget about party lines. Another comment I heard was that Congress should not be divided by party and the members should be seated alphabetically. These comments are right on the nose. If we as a county need a two party system, let it be so. But once the election is over, parties should be gone. If I voted for a republican candidate and the Democrat won, does that mean that the candidate that won does not represent me? I hope not. The winner needs to represent us all, even if we didn't vote. I know it is more complicated than that, but does it have to be?
I sometimes think that we make things complicated just to show others we are better than them.
Lets keep it simple. So even I can understand what is going on.
Thanks.
